Recognition for Nordic Biomarker

Sweden’s Nordic Biomarker is having a week to remember. First it earned the spin-off company of the year award at Umeågalan, and then discovered it made Deloitte’s list of the fastest growing tech companies in Sweden.

Nordic Biomarker manufactures reagents for diagnostic tests, which are used to rule out if a patient has had a clot –a deep venous thrombosis– or not.

“The company was founded in 2007 when one of their future customers went down on knees to beg them to start manufacturing reagents for them,” according to the judges who selected Nordic Biomarker as top spin-off. “These reagents are now used all over the world for diagnosis of blood clots. From the very beginning the company has had a paying customer, which has made it possible for the company to grow organically, and it is now ranked as one of the 50 fastest growing tech companies in Sweden.

 “The company had a turnover of 23 MSEK during 2013 with aprofit margin of 52 percent by providing a customer-demanded solution to a very specific segment, combined with high delivery security and high quality, the company has created a unique niche in the market and become world leading,” according to the judges.
