AbbVie – No. 5 on Sweden’s Best Workplaces list

AbbVie is the 5th best workplace in Sweden, according Great Places to Work’s annual employee survey.

The high ranking is a result of the employees’ opinions on how the company acts within five areas: credibility, respect, justice/equity, pride and fellowship. AbbVie’s employees gave the company a trust index of 91 percent and 97 percent of the employees feel proud to be working at AbbVie. Parts of the results are also based on the company’s culture report, which describes how AbbVie as an employer is working long term to create a culture that nurtures both the employees’ and the organization’s wellbeing.

Hall of Fame

This is the 6th year in a row that AbbVie has occupied a top position on the list, and therefore the company is also included in Great Place to Work’s Hall of Fame.

The seven ingredients

“The first thing we did when we created our Scandinavian organization was to take stock of the success factors that in all three countries have placed them on top for several years when it comes to the best places to work. It showed us that we, independently of each other, have been working with similar focus areas to create the successful culture we have in the different countries. The result of the stocktake became a whole new concept, which we call Kulturrecept (Recipe for Culture), consisting of seven main ingredients,” says Mandahl.

“This ranking is a proof that our culture recipe has been successful and the next step is simply to continue to develop our company and our culture using these ingredients. This is a constantly changing process, and the ingredients are perishables and need to be handled cautiously,” says Mandahl. “The best thing with this result is that it makes us even better prepared to reach our goal: to improve life for people living with severe diseases.”


The seven ingredients are:

  2. To put effort into the leadership, the self-leadership and every employee’s development
  3. To form dedicated culture clubs in every country and on a Scandinavian level
  4. To put the patient in focus – for real
  5. To celebrate success
  6. To take social responsibility and contribute to society by engaging the employees
  7. To measure success, in this case through Great Place to Work, and to take actions on the result
