Biopeople, the Danish Innovation Network for Health & Life Sciences, has been awarded with the Cluster Management Excellence Gold Label.

Biopeople is part of the Danish infrastructure for innovation established and co-funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education. It embraces and clusters universities, research organisations and hospitals, the Danish Health and Medicines Authority, industry associations as well as pharma, medtech, medical device, food and biotech companies. Their aim is to stimulate innovation through activities that bring researchers and stakeholders together across disciplines, sectors and public-private boundaries. Furthermore, the network organisation helps academia and industry to co-create and develop ideas into new projects, products and services to benefit global health and welfare.

Biopeople is the first European cluster organisation in the field of Health & Life Sciences to receive the award. This is the highest level a cluster organisation can reach in the European Union. The criteria for receiving the Gold Label include organisation, strategy, finance, members, services, results and recognition of the cluster organisation.

The European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI) is the EU-Commission’s quality labeling system for cluster organisations. It ensures that these cluster organisations are professionally managed and also that they focus on providing value to members and stakeholders of the cluster.
