Researchers from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) have crafted a simpler procedure to determine if individuals have too many or too few genes, to assess their risk of developing cancer or genetic diseases.
Extra or missing genes can increase one’s risk of developing cancer. While people usually have two copies of each gene, changes in the genome can cause some genes to lose their partner and others to have more than two copies.
