Elekta’s  Board of Directors has appointed Richard Hausmann, to lead the company, effective June 10, 2016.

Hausmann will succeed Tomas Puusepp, current President and Chief Executive Officer.

“Richard Hausmann joins us with nearly three decades of experience in the medical device industry. He led GE’s Magnetic Resonance (MR) division as President and CEO, served as President and CEO of Siemens computed tomography (CT) and worked at Siemens in leading positions in its MR business. He also acted as CEO of Siemens China, responsible for the company’s entire portfolio in its core emerging market. Richard has a solid track record of bringing clinical innovations to the global health care market and is known for his deep insights into customer and patient needs, with a strong outcome orientation,” said Laurent Leksell, Elekta’s founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors. “The board is grateful to Tomas Puusepp, who reassumed the position as Elekta President and CEO in May 2015. He will continue as a working board member for Elekta from June 10.”

Hausmann has a doctorate in physics from the University of Regensburg. Richard Hausmann will join May 1, 2016 and take over as President and CEO on June 10.
