SwedenBIO and Bionordic have decided to site the next edition of Nordic Life Science Days (NLSDays) in Medicon Valley.

The partnering conference has previous years been held exclusively in Stockholm and the event has drawn more than 1 000 particpants from 30 countries. It have resulted in over 500 licensing opportunities and participants from large pharma companies like Abbvie, AstraZeneca, Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim, Johnsson & Johnsson, MSD, Sanofi and several large international investors.

With the decision to set the 2017 event to Medicon Valley (Malmö-Köpenhamn) the organizers hope to market the conference to the many small and middle-sized life science companies from Denmark and the South of Sweden.

“This will strengthen the professional partnering meetings taking place during NLSDays and is an important breeding ground for new long term and fruitful relationships,” said Petter Hartman, CEO of Medicon Valley Alliance.

The organizer’s also see the opportunity of promoting the Nordic life science excellence to an international audience.

“We will be able to showcase our coveted latitude in terms of the local industry and also the academic competence within foremost diabetes, cancer and inflammatory diseases. The event will strengten the region’s and Medicon Valley’s trademark,” says Ulrika Ringdahl, Business Developer at Invest in Skåne. “Since the activities will take place on both sides of the strait we hope to showcase our openess and will to collaborate across borders, which is characteristic for the Greater Copenhagen region.”
