Awarded annually by Germany’s Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen, the Red Dot Award is an internationally recognized quality label for excellent design.

“We are extremely pleased to have received a coveted reddot award in recognition of high design quality for the Air Smart Spirometer,” says Daniel Taub, CEO of Pond Healthcare Innovation.

Air Smart Spirometer is the first CE-approved, ultra-portable spirometer connected to a smartphone. The ease of use and affordable price makes lung capacity testing possible for everyone, everywhere.

Approximately 330 million people in the world have been diagnosed with COPD, a serious lung disease, and according to WHO expected to be the third most common cause of death worldwide by 2030. Unfortunately, many people seek care at a late stage and many even go undiagnosed. The diagnosis requires a lung function measurement test made by a spirometer, but the access to spirometers varies and is low in developing countries.

The Swedish innovation and design company Pond Healthcare Innovation has developed a device and mobile application that measures lung function in people with suspected chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is much more inexpesive then common spirometers today and so easy to use that patients can use ut by them selfs at home.
