Emmace Consulting, a Swedish CRO specialized in inhaled and nasal drug delivery, has developed a novel analytical test that is more in-vivo like than the existing pharmacopeia methods. This was done in collaboration with S5 Consulting and Jolyon Mitchell Inhaler Consulting Services.
Currently, determination of fine droplet dose and corresponding in vivo response involve a combination of two pharmacopeial procedures, Delivered dose and APSD. This methodology has its limits and error sources, and some of those is now mitigated by merging both tests in one test alone. The new test is based on the mixing inlet methodology in combination with humidified air.
