BioArctic’s partner Eisai has presented new data at the 2026 Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC), held in London, July 12-15, demonstrating that the Leqembi (lecanemab) subcutaneous autoinjector (SC-AI) formulation offers efficacy and safety comparable to intravenous (IV) administration in people with early Alzheimer’s disease.

A landmark study led from Lund University has shown that transplanting stem-cell derived dopamine progenitor cells into the brain is feasible. Eight patients were transplanted in the first clinical trial, and no serious side effects directly linked to the transplanted cells were seen during the first year of follow up.

The new facility, located at Uppsala Business Park, will serve as a European centre for chromatography resin development, process development, technical support and customer collaboration.

Spanish biochemist and molecular biologist Salvador Aznar Benitah’s research focuses on how adult stem cells function in normal conditions, aging, and cancer, with particular interest in epigenetics, circadian rhythms, and the mechanisms that allow certain cancer cells to initiate metastasis.
