Researchers used SCIZYS to visualise and quantify biomarker expression in a type of immune cell relevant to immune defence and to the development of various skin diseases. Until now, external validation of the platform – which is built on up-converting nanoparticle technology – had centred on tissue samples; the study is the first to demonstrate its use in single-cell, cell-based research.

The work forms part of the broader Biobarrier collaboration with academic and industry partners on advanced biomarker analysis, first announced in September 2025. Lumito says the result widens the platform’s potential applications and could support further research and commercial partnerships over time.

CEO Sanna Wallenborg said continued use of SCIZYS by independent researchers is a sign of the technology’s relevance and could help build interest from both academia and commercial partners.
