Hansa Biopharma partners with Cradle on AI
Hansa Biopharma has signed a collaboration with Amsterdam-based Cradle. Hansa will use Cradle’s AI-driven protein design and engineering platform across its research and development work to develop new immunomodulatory treatments for severe autoimmune diseases.
Hansa will use the platform to design, optimize, and further develop new drug candidates. Hansa’s lead product, the enzyme imlifidase, is commercially available in Europe as Idefirix. It is under FDA review, with a December decision date, for highly sensitized patients awaiting kidney transplantation.
Hansa chose Cradle after evaluating several AI models and providers. The deciding factors were end-to-end support across the discovery process, optimization of several parameters at once, and active learning from Hansa’s own experimental data.
“Cradle’s platform enables Hansa’s scientists to design and develop better drug candidates – faster and with a higher probability of success,” says Sofia Järnum, VP Head of Research and Early Development at Hansa.
According to Cradle, its customers report development timelines up to eighteen months shorter.
“The future of multimodal drug development isn’t about burning more AI tokens or navigating a whole suite of different models. It’s about giving researchers the power of a platform that learns alongside them,” says Stef van Grieken, CEO and co-founder of Cradle.
