Ketil Widerberg steps down from Oslo Cancer Cluster
After twelve years leading Norway’s oldest health cluster, Ketil Widerberg is leaving Oslo Cancer Cluster to head an AI initiative in healthcare at Oslo University Hospital.
When Widerberg became General Manager of Oslo Cancer Cluster in 2014, the goal was clear: to help research and innovation reach cancer patients faster. That is still the cluster’s mission today. It serves as an international arena where industry, academia, healthcare, and investors work together on new cancer solutions.
“I have had the opportunity to contribute to the development of companies, technologies, and fields of research, including internationally. It has been a privilege,” he says.
Under his leadership, the Oslo-based cluster has brought founders, researchers, clinicians, investors, and industry leaders together under one roof at Oslo Cancer Cluster Innovation Park, which includes an incubator, laboratory infrastructure, and meeting places. During this period, several member and incubator companies have raised significant capital, expanded internationally, and been acquired by global companies.
“Building bridges between these communities to achieve something greater is one of the most important things I will take with me,” Widerberg says.
At Oslo University Hospital, he will build on his experience in cancer innovation, health data, and cross-sector collaboration. “Health data has been important and will continue to be important for the cancer treatment of the future. I now look forward to bringing my experience from Oslo Cancer Cluster into the work on artificial intelligence, while continuing to collaborate with the community here.”
The search for a new General Manager is now underway.
