Coripharma makes two key appointments

Coripharma has announced that Stefan Karlsson is joining the company as Senior Sourcing Manager and Fjalar Jóhannsson has been appointed as Portfolio Manager.

Stefan Karlsson

As Senior Sourcing Manager, Karlsson will be responsible for the evaluation, selection and sourcing of raw materials for both R&D projects and the contract manufactured products. In addition to this, he will be responsible for selecting and managing strategic suppliers of Coripharma and overseeing category management. His experience in the pharmaceutical industry spans over 15 years. He has a sound knowledge of the requirements needed to develop and commercialize products for various markets such as EU, US and Japan, states Coripharma. Over the years Stefan Karlsson has built an extensive network in the pharmaceutical industry.

He joined Actavis in 2005 and he has held various roles within sourcing and procurement. For the last five years Karlsson served as Associate Director at TEVA, responsible for sourcing direct materials used in various products such as solid oral dosage, respiratory, implants, ophthalmics and more.

Fjalar Jóhannsson

As Portfolio Manager, Jóhannsson will be responsible for identifying new product opportunities, partnership collaborations, build business cases and manage the cross-functional evaluation of development candidates. His experience in the pharmaceutical industry spans over 20 years. His extensive background as formulation scientist gives him a deep knowledge of the requirements needed to develop products for various markets worldwide.

He joined Coripharma as Department Manager for formulation development in 2019 upon the Corpharma’s aqusition of the Icelandic R&D unit from Teva. Before that he was the Associate Director of Formulation development of the Icelandic R&D unit at Teva/Actavis from 2014-2019, focusing on solid oral dosage development. From 2001-2014 he worked as a formulation scientist at Omega Farma/Actavis/Teva. Fjalar has a Master’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Iceland.
