The third EU-US eHealth Marketplace and Conference which are part of the Connected Health Week was held on 22-23 October at the Seaport World Trade Center, Boston, United States. Team Finland and 22 other countries participated in this event which featured high-level panel discussions and meetings, new contacts and real business opportunities. Invest in Finland participated in the panel  “Accessing U.S. and European Markets” with representatives from the Trade & Investment Agency of Catalonia, Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment, and U.S. Commercial Service Brussels / EU Mission, U.S. Trade and Commerce.

Many participants at the event have been interested in what Finland has to offer.

“The dynamic start-up scene in the Nordics is creating our new business success stories, for example in the connected health and mobile gaming sectors,” says Sari Ojala, Marketing Communications Manager at Invest in Finland. “Our leading education system combined with great mobile engineering talent is a source of inspiration globally. People also want know about Team Finland and how we operate abroad.”

Finnish life sciences research has been on display at the Bio-IT seminar. Professors from the Institute of Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) and Finland State Research Center (VTT) met leaders from the Massachusetts Bio-science ecosystem and Bio IT program to discuss transatlantic collaboration opportunities. Finland’s new Biobank Act and the Auria Biobank in Turku are potential drivers to boost the creation of new business and transatlantic research.
