Current Chair Dorothea Wenzel will step down in connection with the 2027 AGM. She joined Lundbeck’s board in 2021, chaired the Audit Committee and became Chair in March 2025. Fruergaard Jørgensen is expected to be formally elected as a board member at the same AGM, subject to shareholder approval.

The change comes as Lundbeck prepares for the next phase of its Focused Innovator strategy, launched in February 2024. According to the company, the upcoming “Scale” phase will focus on turning recent achievements into sustainable long-term growth.

Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen

Besides his years as Novo’s CEO, Fruergaard Jørgensen has served as President of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA). He currently chairs Healthcare Denmark and sits on the board of Danmarks Nationalbank.

During his tenure as CEO, he led Novo Nordisk through a period of significant growth and transformation, strengthening its global leadership in diabetes care and establishing a leading position in obesity treatment.

He brings extensive expertise in global pharmaceutical strategy, innovation, commercialization, and organizational transformation. He holds an MSc in Finance and Business Administration from Aarhus University.

“I am excited by the prospect of chairing Lundbeck at such a pivotal moment. Lundbeck has built a strong foundation in brain health, with a successful business, a solid balance sheet, and a pipeline with significant late-stage potential. The company has the strength and momentum to step into its next phase of growth. I look forward to the opportunity to support that ambition, together with the Board and the executive leadership team, for the benefit of patients, employees and shareholders,” says Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen.
