The new panel adds cefiderocol and other reserve antibiotics to the QuickMIC portfolio, giving laboratories more options for testing multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria and supporting faster treatment decisions.

In the performance evaluation, essential agreement was 95.5%, categorical agreement 96.0% and reproducibility 98.9%, with 99.6% of quality control results within the specified ranges. According to the company, the results exceeded the regulatory performance requirements by a good margin.

The QuickMIC system is commercially available in Europe. It has Breakthrough Device Designation from the US FDA but is available only for investigational use in the US and does not yet have 510(k) clearance.

“Being able to test cefiderocol in a rapid AST workflow is an important technical breakthrough, and we are proud to now offer this capability to laboratories,” says Christer Malmberg, Chief Scientific Officer at Gradientech.
