Grants of NOK 500 000 available for infrastructure networks
Under a new funding announcement from NordForsk, grants of NOK 500 000 will be made available to up to eight Nordic networks for the exchange of experience and knowledge on large-scale, international research infrastructures under the European Strategy Forum for Research Infrastructures (ESFRI). NordForsk welcomes applications within all scientific areas.
Large international research infrastructures require cooperation in both the research and the political sphere. In 2008 the European Strategy Forum for Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) drew up a roadmap of the European landscape for these large-scale investments.
NordForsk subsequently established the NORIA-net on NordicResearch Infrastructure Network (NRIN), whose report Enhancing Nordic Research Infrastructure Cooperation identifies and makes recommendations on Nordic points of focus. Now NordForsk is taking the next step to facilitate cooperation between Nordic researchers by providing funding for networking activities. The funding will support knowledge sharing between researchers working in the same fields in their respective Nordic countries.
Up to eight grants of NOK 500 000 each for the next one to three years are to be used to establish dynamic networks that utilise and further develop the Nordic region’s existing expertise and facilitate optimal use of priority infrastructures. The networks should build and expand Nordic competence and generate added value through exchange of experience with regard to best practice and efficient use of technologies and procedures. Applications within all scientific areas are welcome, but the network must be affiliated with one of the national priority infrastructures.
