Marja Makarow Chair of NordForsk Board

The NordForsk Board appointed Marja Makarow as new Chair of the NordForsk Board during its June meeting.
Marja Makarow is the Vice President for Research of the Academy of Finland and Professor of Applied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Helsinki. Also, she was Chief Executive of the European Science Foundation (ESF) in Strasbourg between 2008 and 2011. Before that, in 2003-2007, Makarow worked as Vice Rector at the University of Helsinki, in charge of research affairs, research study affairs and innovation activities.
The June meeting took place in Copenhagen in connection with ESOF 2014 (EuroScience Open Forum).
