The Finnish company Medixine has announced that it is collaborating with Qualcomm Life, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, to build an integrated end-to-end solution for management and remote monitoring of chronic disease patients. According toTapio Jokinen, Medixine’s founder and chairman of the board, Qualcomm Life’s high-quality product will boost the value of Medixine’s offering in the market.

The Medixine Clinic solution combines tools for patients and their families with tools for care professionals and efficient multichannel communication between these groups.  Qualcomm Life’s 2net Platform and Hub will serve as the connectivity infrastructure to wirelessly collect biometric readings from medical devices, such as blood pressure cuffs, and transfer the health data to Medixine’s cloud-based Clinic application.

“Medixine has more than 10 years of international experience in the telehealth industry, and we’re excited to be collaborating with a known leader in disease management software in Europe. Our open and scalable approach to connectivity is the perfect complement for Medixine Clinic software, and we look forward to working together to reduce healthcare costs and improve outcomes by enabling remote monitoring,” says Mr. Laurent Vandebrouck, MD of Qualcomm Life Europe.

The telemedicine applications market is estimated to grow from USD 9.8 billion in 2010 to about USD 27.3 billion in 2016. “With Qualcomm Life, Medixine can provide a well-integrated and scalable solution to all European customers,” says Tapio Jokinen.
