The study, published in Redox Biology, was led by researchers at the University of Helsinki with co-authors from NADMED. It draws on data from 330 healthy adults aged 18 to 70. Applying the same platform to patient biobank samples, the researchers found disease-associated alterations in NAD and glutathione levels, and found that systemic NAD does not decline with healthy aging.

“Establishing what a normal NAD and glutathione profile looks like has been a missing piece for the field,” says Anu Suomalainen Wartiovaara, professor at the University of Helsinki. “Now the individuals whose levels are substantially altered can be identified.”

NADMED’s CE-marked platform quantifies all six key NAD- and glutathione-related metabolites from a single blood sample using standard laboratory methods.
