New cancer research center opened
The K.G. Jebsen Center for colorectal cancer research has now been opened.
The center is led by Ragnhild A. Lothe, co-director Centre for Cancer Biomedicine, University of Oslo. The colorectal cancer research center will focus on improving the methods for diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer and will receive NOK 16 mill over a 4-year period from the K.G. Jebsen Foundation.
Lothe says in a statement on uio.no that the new centre may stimulate young medical doctors and researchers to become interested in this serious disease, which is the second
most common cancer type in Europe, where only half of the patients survive.
