New center for clinical trials in Gothenburg
A center for pharmaceutical studies and other clinical trials will be set up in Gothenburg.
With SEK 50 million annually, the center will strengthen the collaboration between healthcare, industry and academia. The center will formally belong to the Swedish Research Council and be run by a committee that is elected by the government after suggestions from the council as well as the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions and trade organizations for pharmaceuticals, medtech, biotech and private healthcare providers.
The center will dispose of a budget of SEK 40 million during 2015 and thereafter SEK 50 million annually from 2016. If all goes according to plans the center will be formally established on November 1 2014.
