The new Niels Bohr Science Park

The university of Copenhagen is planning the construction of the new Niels Bohr Science Park (NBSP).

The new Science park will help to ensure Denmark a framework for world-class scientific research and education. The new buildings under the name of Niels Bohr Science Park (NBSP) will bring together science, physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science and science education.

The buildings will be located in the North Campus area in Copenhagen where most of the activities of the Faculty of Science are gathered. It will accommodate approx. 3-4,000 students, 800 researchers with teaching duties and 260 PhD students, as well as 200 technical and administrative staff members.
The new research park will be designed with modern and specialized laboratories for world-class research and modern classrooms and study facilities. NSBP must be continuously and flexibly adapted to the research projects rather than research institution. This places great demands on building flexibility and variability.
NBSP will be at the forefront of sustainability, both through its functional and architectural integration and its reinforcement of environmentally aware behaviour. The buildings must satisfy UBST’s (the Danish University and Property Agency’s) energy strategy and general sustainability requirements. COWI is project management consultant on the project, which involves consulting for indoor climate, IT, structural design, sustainability, environment and energy.
