Serodus appoints new CEO to lead asset divestment
Serodus has appointed Lars Smedegaard Andersen as CEO, effective September 17, 2026. His main focus will be the divestment and partnering of the company’s assets. Founder Eva Steiness, who has led the company for sixteen years, steps down as CEO and becomes Chief Medical Officer.
The Copenhagen-based biotech company develops anti-inflammatory compounds, primarily for diabetic kidney disease and obesity. The aim of the new phase is to secure further development and commercialization of key pipeline assets while maximizing value for shareholders and stakeholders. As CMO, Eva Steiness will continue to provide medical and scientific leadership and support the strategic positioning of the assets.
“The company has built a valuable pipeline and reached important development milestones. With the assets now positioned for potential transactions, we believe Lars’s experience in business development, late-stage drug development, and commercialization makes him well suited to lead the company through this next phase,” says Søren Ingerslev, Chairman of the Board.
“My immediate priority will be to engage with potential partners and acquirers and execute a focused strategy to maximize the value of the portfolio,” says Lars Smedegaard Andersen.
Board member and majority shareholder Viggo Harboe thanks Eva Steiness for taking the company’s pipeline assets from early inception to clinical and preclinical characterization, and says her continued role as CMO ensures continuity of the company’s scientific and medical expertise.
