Strategic alliance in Skåne to strengthen Swedish life science

The collaboration aims to speed up the introduction of new innovations in healthcare, increase interaction between industry and academia, and work together for sustainable innovation support in Skåne.
The initiative is a collaboration coordinated by Medicon Village and includes the School of Economics at Lund University, Skåne University Hospital, and AstraZeneca. The alliance will initially focus on areas such as health economics, public diseases, innovation systems, intellectual property rights, and sustainability, describes Medicon Village in a press release.
AstraZeneca in Skåne
With the collaboration, AstraZeneca strengthens its commitment/involvement in Skåne and thus also becomes a member of Medicon Village.
“AstraZeneca has a long commitment and extensive experience in developing innovative medicines and treatments and I am glad that AstraZeneca wants to do it together with academia, university healthcare and us at Medicon Village. Through this collaboration, we create better conditions for transforming research into solutions that really make a difference for patients and the whole society,” says Petter Hartman, CEO of Medicon Village Innovation.
Medicon Village is a natural meeting place for research and innovation in life science and we want to be there.
“This collaboration is in line with our vision of improving health and quality of life for people in Sweden and globally, and for that collaboration across sectors is required. Medicon Village is a natural meeting place for research and innovation in life science and we want to be there. By being part of this dynamic ecosystem, we contribute not only to scientific progress but also to strengthening Sweden’s competitiveness globally as a leading life science nation,” says Emelie Antoni, Head of AstraZeneca Nordics.
