In the draft Swedish federal budget for 2015, the government proposes that the mandate of the Fourier transform be changed. Today the fund, which manages 3 billion, focuses on the automotive industry. But according to the proposal, the mission instead becomes to directly or indirectly invest in small to medium sized businesses in the early stages operating in the environmental technology that helps to meet the challenges linked to climate change and in small to medium sized businesses in the early stages operating in the life sciences.

The government also writes that it is necessary to develop business models that open to more long-term capital investments. Under the proposal, Fourier transform invests in activities directly through subsidiaries or associated companies or indirectly through ownership of units.
