The Lund-based company and Hipolabor will share development costs and profits equally. SynAct is also eligible for sales milestone payments linked to cumulative net sales of USD 200 million. SynAct keeps full control of resomelagon, including the right to pursue other partnerships across further indications and territories.

Resomelagon is being developed as a short-term outpatient treatment to relieve key symptoms of dengue and reduce the risk of severe disease. More than one million people in Brazil are estimated to seek medical care for dengue each year. The World Health Organization recently named resomelagon as one of six therapeutic candidates with evidence supporting further clinical development. It is the only host-directed therapy among them.

“Hipolabor’s established manufacturing, regulatory, and distribution capabilities provide a strong foundation for advancing resomelagon towards commercialization in Brazil. This partnership also strengthens our ability to pursue future global and regional partnerships in rheumatoid arthritis, dengue, and other inflammatory diseases,” says Jeppe Øvlesen, CEO, SynAct Pharma.

Hipolabor holds more than 100 pharmaceutical product registrations and has a nationwide distribution network in Brazil. Through a separate supply agreement still to be negotiated, it may also manufacture and package resomelagon.

The deal builds on SynAct’s ongoing RESOVIR-2 clinical program. Results from the first part of the study are expected in 2026, pending feedback from regulators. Topline results for the full study are expected in the second quarter of 2027.

“Dengue is one of Brazil’s most urgent public health challenges, and we are proud to partner with SynAct to confront it head-on,” says Renato Alves, CEO, Hipolabor.
