Umeå Biotech Incubator receives SEK 2.5 million from Kempestiftelserna

Umeå Biotech Incubator (UBI) has been awarded continued support from Kempestiftelserna for 2026.
These funds are intended to verify research and data for early-stage ideas in life sciences and cannot be allocated to registered companies.
Kempestiftelserna are two foundations that support pioneering research and initiatives in Västerbotten, Västernorrland, and Norrbotten. Over the years, they have contributed significant amounts to research and innovation, and Umeå Biotech Incubator has received support from Kempestiftelserna for several years.
“We are a specialized incubator with expertise in life sciences and an incubation process refined over more than 20 years. With the soft funds we manage, we can offer a unique financing model for researchers aiming to commercialize their research,” says Peter Jacobsson, Acting Head of Operations of UBI. “Our strategy is to incorporate as late as possible, allowing our projects access to soft funds without needing to venture into an uncertain market to secure verification funds. I also want to emphasize that our EP and Kempe funds are exclusively for research verification and not for the operation of Umeå Biotech Incubator.”
