The six companies, PanTarg, 3Sonic, Inia Biosciences, Yngvi Bio, Proxi Biotech, and Sagava, have each previously received EUR 0.5 million from BII. The new funding, provided through convertible loans, moves them from BII’s Venture Lab program into Venture House, an 18-month follow-on program designed to mature technologies and businesses ahead of external financing.

Along with the capital, the companies retain access to BII’s Copenhagen-based innovation platform, including laboratory facilities, a global network of investors and advisors, and support in business development and commercialization.

“The six companies have demonstrated strong potential and have already taken important steps from promising research to developing solutions that can make a real difference. With continued funding, they have the opportunity to accelerate their development and focus even more on their path towards the market,” says Trine Bartholdy, Chief Business Officer at BII. “It is precisely at this stage that the combination of capital, strong expertise, and the right network can make a decisive difference. We see significant potential in all six companies, and our role is to help them turn their technologies into sustainable businesses and products that can create value for patients, society, and investors,” she adds.

The cohort spans a range of technologies. PanTarg, a spin-out from the University of Copenhagen and Rigshospitalet, is developing an antibody-based cancer treatment that combines two targeted mechanisms in a single therapy, with a focus on aggressive cancers such as pancreatic cancer. 3Sonic, spun out of Rigshospitalet and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), is developing a 3D ultrasound and AI-based imaging technology that lets surgeons assess cancer tissue in real time during surgery.

Inia Biosciences, which emerged from the Boston and Oxford innovation ecosystems, is developing new treatments for inflammatory diseases, starting with psoriasis. Yngvi Bio, a University of Copenhagen spin-out, is developing biological pest control solutions to protect crops while reducing the impact on biodiversity and human health.

Proxi Biotech is developing a vaccine-based immunotherapy for recurrent bacterial infections, with a lead candidate targeting Clostridium difficile as an alternative to fecal microbiota transplantation. Sagava, a DTU spin-out, is working to decarbonize shipping by converting waste into sustainable biofuels.
