The Huddinge-based company is developing small-molecule drug candidates for diseases of the central nervous system, with projects in both Alzheimer’s disease and pain. Martin Jönsson has been CEO since January 2020. Johan Sandin, who has previously served as the company’s CEO, will hold the role until a permanent successor is in place. At the same time, Head of Discovery & Research Pontus Forsell has been appointed Deputy CEO.

The change comes as AlzeCure enters a new phase. Following its recent licensing deals with Eli Lilly and QuantumCell, the company will now focus on advancing those partnerships while also developing its pain platform Painless.

“Against this background, the board and Martin have agreed that it is the right time for new leadership at AlzeCure Pharma. Johan Sandin has a very deep knowledge of the company’s operations, research, and core values, and has played a central role in our business development work, with the recently completed licensing deals as particularly good examples. He is exceptionally well suited to lead AlzeCure Pharma until a permanent CEO has been recruited,” says Eggert Mörling, Chair, AlzeCure Pharma.
