In 2025, exports of pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical products amounted to just over SEK 152 billion, which represents a stabilization after the decline in previous years even when Sweden’s goods exports are generally declining, the barometer shows.

The life science sector remains one of Sweden’s largest export sectors and accounts for around seven percent of total goods exports. The report shows that Swedish companies are looking positively to the future, with a majority expecting increased exports in the coming years.

Despite the strong position, companies are raising several challenges, including a lack of financing, complex regulations and difficulties in reaching new markets. However, global demand for innovative health and medical care solutions is expected to remain high.

In addition to statistics from Statistics Sweden, the report is based on a survey of Swecare’s member companies.
