SwedenBIO introduces policy platform

Once a fragmented landscape of strong research but limited cohesion, Stockholm’s life science ecosystem is now accelerating toward a more integrated future – a shift that Stockholm Science City’s CEO Ylva Williams has helped drive over nearly two decades.

This is according to Swecare's Health Export Barometer 2026 launched today, April 21.

Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation is allocating additional funds to patient‑oriented, clinical research.

As Sweden crowns its national champions in youth research, the country is grappling with a deeper challenge: how to inspire more young people to pursue science, technology, and maths at a time when PISA results reveal a steady decline in STEM competence across the Nordics.

The initiative comes from a group of private entrepreneurs in close collaboration with Business Region Gothenburg, Business Sweden, Swedish industries and NVIDIA as a technology partner.

The company is opening of a new 8,000-square-meter center supporting its immunodiagnostics business in Uppsala.

Sweden’s updated “samverkansregler” governing collaboration between healthcare and industry took effect on 1 February 2026, following a revised national agreement between SKR (Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions) and the trade organisations Lif, Swedish Medtech, SwedenBIO and Swedish Labtech.
