A place that protects early ideas, carries learning forward, and helps people work together across borders even when the systems around them are not built for it. In Medicon Valley, many now share a simple vision: to create a kind of greenhouse for Nordic life science cooperation.

To succeed as a life science cluster in a medium-sized region, you need to prioritize and pick your battles.

If we look at the existing life science hot spots mentioned in the Draghi report, including Medicon Valley, it is obvious that the likelihood of success will increase dramatically, if we embrace the Golden Triangle in the UK (London- Oxford-Cambridge).

Innovation is obviously a key component of future competitiveness. Consequently, the very same stakeholders from industry, academia, research and the political sphere, who have embraced the Draghi report’s recommendations on European competitiveness and the European life science strategy published this summer by the European Commission, have also welcomed the new 2025 European Innovation Scoreboard analysis.

Although the Danish-Swedish life science cluster organization Medicon Valley Alliance was established way back in 1997, the true momentum for Medicon Valley, essentially the EU’s leading life science cluster, started with a kiss.

The future of Europe depends on the future of European competitiveness. So far, everyone seems to agree.
