NLS Science Award

The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet has decided to award the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine to Mary E. Brunkow, Institute for Systems Biology, Seattle, USA, Fred Ramsdell, Sonoma Biotherapeutics, San Francisco, USA, and Shimon Sakaguchi, Osaka University, Osaka, Japan.

Professor David Eisenberg, University of California in Los Angeles, USA, has been awarded the Gregori Aminoff Prize in Crystallography by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

Doctor Maximilian Ackermann, currently working as a Professor of Pathology at the RWTH University Clinics Aachen and Helios University Hospital Wuppertal, Germany, and as anatomist at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is awarded the 2025 Lennart Nilsson Award for his outstanding contributions to scientific imaging, revealing critical insights into diseases, such as COVID-19 and cancer.

Professor Kirsi Pietiläinen, Professor of Clinical Metabolism at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki, receives the prize for her outstanding work in clinical metabolism.

Miriam Merad is awarded the Sjöberg Prize, worth USD one million, for her discovery of new targets for cancer therapies in the immune system.

The Crafoord Prize in Polyarthritis 2025, worth SEK six million, is awarded to Christopher Goodnow, Australia, and David Nemazee, USA.
