Prince Daniel’s funding to young promising scientists will this year be allocated to Lars Maegdefessel for his research on preventing hardening of the arteries.

Maegdefessel is doctor of medicine at Karolinska Insitutet in Stockholm and does his research on the mikroRNA molecule and its importance in developing hardening of the arteries. The goal of the research is to develop new treatment methods to lower the number of people affected by cardiovascular disease. He will receive SEK 6 million in funding.

“It is a great honor to me to be recognized in this way. The funding from the Swedish Heart-Lung Foudndation will provide great possibilities to make my research visible and to work together with top scientists,” said Lars Maegdefessel.
