SciBase wins first US payer coverage for Nevisense
SciBase has secured its first positive US medical policy from a major Blue Cross Blue Shield organization: Highmark will cover the company’s Nevisense skin lesion assessment for patients being evaluated for possible melanoma.
The policy covers all Highmark commercial insured lines of business, as well as self-funded employer groups that opt in. Highmark and its Blue-branded affiliates serve more than 7 million members. Coverage applies when a dermatologist is assessing a suspicious pigmented lesion on the trunk or extremities, 2–20 mm in size, in adults, and is considering a biopsy.
SciBase says reimbursement can shift eligible use from cash pay toward covered care, removing a key barrier to adoption. The company will continue talks with other US payers.
“This is a defining milestone for SciBase and an important step forward in the development of our U.S. business,” says CEO Pia Renaudin.
