Under the agreement, NCI Thailand will implement evidence-based ERAS guidelines in colorectal surgery using Encare’s ERAS Interactive Audit System (EIAS). The guidelines cover the entire surgical pathway, from preparation before surgery to recovery afterward, and have been shown to reduce complications and shorten hospital stays.

EIAS allows the surgical team to measure adherence to the guidelines, track clinical outcomes such as complications and length of stay, and compare results with other hospitals using the system. NCI Thailand’s colorectal team will also take part in the ERAS Implementation Program (EIP). The institute aims to achieve ERAS Qualification, which the ERAS Society awards after an independent assessment. The initial focus is colorectal surgery, but ERAS may be extended to other surgical specialties over time.

“Implementing ERAS protocols has transformed routine cancer care throughout the entire surgical pathway. Furthermore, EIAS enables excellent real-time data analysis, driving comprehensive improvements across clinical teams and healthcare organizations,” says Dr. Hathaiwan Moungthard, an oncology surgeon affiliated with the National Cancer Institute of Thailand.

“The National Cancer Institute of Thailand is an important first hospital partner for Encare as we enter the Thai market. The collaboration gives us an opportunity to support ERAS implementation at a specialist oncology hospital within Thailand’s public healthcare system,” says Rasmus Waller, CEO of Encare.

Encare is the sole global commercial partner of the ERAS Society and works with more than 140 hospitals in over thirty countries. In the Asia-Pacific region, it partners with twenty-two hospitals in eleven countries, including Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore, Gleneagles Hospital Johor in Malaysia, and FV Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
