Episurf moves to sell medtech business
Episurf Medical has signed a letter of intent with Canada’s Oligo Medic for the possible sale of its medical technology business, as the Swedish company shifts its focus to real estate.
The Stockholm-based company signed the letter of intent as part of a strategic review of its medtech operations, announced on October 26.
Oligo Medic is building an international platform for joint-preserving treatments under the planned name Forever in Motion. The platform will combine complementary technologies, including biomaterials, customized implants, surgical treatment, and digital motion analysis. Episurf’s Episealer implant and Epiguide instruments could add both technological breadth and clinical experience to the platform.
“We welcome the opportunity to find a long-term industrial solution for our medtech business. Episurf has developed a unique technology with extensive clinical experience, and Oligo Medic’s broader platform could give the business better conditions for continued product development and international commercialization. For Episurf, a divestment would also be an important step in focusing our resources on the real estate business,” says Jens Andersson, CEO, Episurf Medical.
The parties will now work on the transaction structure and a possible final transfer agreement. No sale has been completed yet. Any deal requires a final agreement, fulfillment of the applicable conditions, and the necessary decisions.
