BioInvent plans SEK 430 million rights issue
Swedish biotech BioInvent plans a rights issue of approximately SEK 430 million to fund development of its anti-TNFR2 antibody BI-1808 and its other priority programs. The company also proposes to cut up to 20 positions.
About SEK 350 million, or 81% of the issue, is covered by subscription commitments and guarantee undertakings. Commitments of around SEK 80 million come from the three largest shareholders, Redmile, Van Herk and Forbion, and other existing shareholders including HealthInvest. Net proceeds are expected to be about SEK 380 million. BioInvent had cash of approximately SEK 225 million at the end of September, and says completing the covered part of the issue would finance the company through the end of 2027.
The main priority is BI-1808 in combination with Keytruda and paclitaxel in recurrent ovarian cancer.
The main priority is BI-1808 in combination with Keytruda and paclitaxel in recurrent ovarian cancer, where the funds will allow BioInvent to start Part C of its Phase 1/2a study and move toward potentially pivotal studies. The company will also advance BI-1206 with pembrolizumab in first-line non-small cell lung cancer and uveal melanoma. The workforce reduction is subject to union negotiations.
An extraordinary general meeting to approve the issue is planned for December 1, with the subscription period running December 7–21. Final terms will be announced no later than November 27.
“Our priority is to bring BI-1808 forward in cancers where patients have few effective options,” says Martin Welschof, CEO of BioInvent.
