LSI Zeta has raised EUR 2.9 million
Life Science Invest’s sixth co-investment company, LSI Zeta, has raised EUR 2.9 million from 35 Nordic business angels.
The company will invest in around ten early-stage life science companies in the Nordic region over the coming year and actively support them in taking the next step. The initiative is led by the entrepreneurs Ann-Charlotte Beckman, Magnus Klaesson,
Kristofer Klerfalk, and Peter Hede.
It is incredibly inspiring and exciting that we now have business angels with life science backgrounds from all Nordic countries (except Iceland) and that 38% are women, which increases diversity.
“It is incredibly inspiring and exciting that we now have business angels with life science backgrounds from all Nordic countries (except Iceland) and that 38% are women, which increases diversity. This has previously proven to be a success factor in our work with portfolio companies. In addition, 40% of our existing investments have female founders, compared with the fact that only about 2% of capital in general goes to female founders,” says Ann-Charlotte Beckman.
Kristofer Klerfalk: Building stamina to walk the startup miles
Life science entrepreneur, investor, and baritone tenor Kristofer Klerfalk is a man with many hats and a vision for a pan-Nordic life science ecosystem.
“We see that the need for investments in the pre-seed and seed stages, exactly where we invest, has increased significantly in recent years. Previously, it was relatively easy to raise money at an early stage. This is due to the overall economic climate, which has led to tougher financing conditions and, in turn, increased competition for non-dilutive funding,” says Magnus Klaesson. “The feedback we often receive from across the ecosystem is that we have an incredibly important role to play in ensuring that these companies do not lose momentum in the critical phases they are in.”
