Thermo Fisher Scientific receives the Key to Gothenburg

Leon Wyszkowski, president of analytical services for clinical research, has received the Key to Gothenburg, on behalf of Thermo Fisher during a ceremony at the City Hall.
As NLS has previously written about, Thermo Fisher Scientific will open a new European lab operation in Gothenburg. The new bioanalytical laboratory, creating up to 140 new jobs for researchers and laboratory staff, will be established during the last quarter of 2025.

The key was awarded during a ceremony in the City Hall April 23, hosted by the City of Gothenburg and Business Region Göteborg. AstraZeneca Sweden was also present through CEO Per Alfredsson.
Expand bioanalytical capabilities

The company expects to hire a wide range of roles with particular skillsets, including advanced degree scientists, lab support, supply chain, and receiving and storing, to support the lab expansion.
The business will expand its bioanalytical capabilities to include comprehensive and full-service solutions, encompassing both small and large molecules, biomarkers and novel modalities, the company states. Service offerings will include a wide range of advanced technologies and methodologies, such as cell-based assays, chromatography, flow cytometry, immunochemistry and molecular genomics. The company expects to hire a wide range of roles with particular skillsets, including advanced degree scientists, lab support, supply chain, and receiving and storing, to support the lab expansion.
About the Key to Gothenburg and motivation
The key is awarded to a national or international investment in Gothenburg that is of great importance or impact on the region’s long-term growth, creates jobs or adds other value to the region that is deemed to be of great importance. The Key to Gothenburg has previously been awarded to companies such as Volvo Cars, CEVT, MentorMate and HCL Technologies.
