Torekov receives the Flemming Quaade Prize for Outstanding Obesity Research, worth DKK 1 million, for her research into how weight loss can be maintained over time. With the prize, she will investigate whether exercise increases responsiveness in the brain regions that regulate appetite and reward, and how this may help prevent weight regain.

Gasbjerg, who is also a research group leader at the Center for Clinical Metabolic Research at Gentofte Hospital, receives the Early Career Obesity Research Award of DKK 500,000 for her work on the gut hormone GIP. Her new project will explore the mechanisms behind obesity treatments that target both GIP and GLP-1.

“My favorite hormone, GIP, seems to be involved in the regulation of body weight and also to have therapeutic potential,” says Gasbjerg.

The prizes will be presented at DASO’s Annual Meeting in Nyborg on November 6, 2026.
