Egetis sells priority review voucher for USD 190 million
Egetis Therapeutics has agreed to sell its US Rare Pediatric Disease Priority Review Voucher for gross proceeds of USD 190 million, about SEK 1.9 billion. About half of the net proceeds will go to the former owners of Rare Thyroid Therapeutics International (RTTI).
Egetis received the voucher on September 28, 2026, when the FDA approved EMCITATE (tiratricol) for peripheral thyrotoxicosis in adults and children with MCT8 deficiency, a rare genetic disorder. EMCITATE is the first and only approved treatment for the condition, and also holds marketing authorization in the EU.
FDA approves Egetis’ Emcitate
Egetis Therapeutics has received FDA approval for Emcitate (tiratricol), making it the first approved treatment in the US for patients with the rare genetic disease MCT8 deficiency. With the approval, the company also received a Rare Pediatric Disease Priority Review Voucher.
The payment to RTTI’s former owners is an earnout from Egetis’ acquisition of EMCITATE in 2020. The buyer was not named, and the deal is subject to customary closing conditions, including expiry of the US antitrust waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act.
